When will Lasso 9 be available?
Lasso 9 should be available in early 2009. Is there a public beta? LassoSoft is currently running a private alpha test of Lasso 9. Once the product reaches beta status we will be opening up the testing to more participants. We will have more information at that time. Can I pre-order Lasso 9? We are offering pre-orders of Lasso 9 at this time. Although Lasso 9 will not be shipping for several months, buying a pre-order allows you to support the development of this new product. If I purchase Lasso 8.5 now will I get a discount on Lasso 9 when it's released? LassoSoft has announced an Upgrade Discount Plan for purchases or upgrades to Lasso 8.5 between now and when Lasso 9 is released. You can read about it here. Will LPA members get Lasso 9? Yes, all LPA Premiere members who are in good standing when Lasso 9 ships will receive a free upgrade to Lasso 9 for their LPA LP8.5 license. What platforms does Lasso 9 support? Lasso 9 will be targeted at Mac OS X 10.5, Windows Vista and Vista Server, and CentOS 5. Lasso 9 will also support Mac OS X 10.3 and higher, Windows XP Professional, and Windows Server 2000/2003. |
What can I do to get ready for Lasso 9?
We are working hard to ensure the closest possible backward compatibility with Web sites that are currently running on Lasso 8.5. The best way to get ready for Lasso 9 is to upgrade your Web sites to Lasso 8.5 now. This will make the upgrade to Lasso 9 considerably easier. What about backward compatibility? We consider every change in Lasso 9 carefully to see how it will affect backward compatibility. Lasso 9 will include a robust compatbility layer which will ensure that most Lasso 8.5 solutions can run without modification. However, we do need to make some changes to ensure that Lasso 9 is a platform on which future versions of Lasso can be built. As we get closer to the release of Lasso 9 we will have detailed information about any areas where Lasso 9 does not offer perfect backward compatibility and what you can do now to get your sites ready? What data sources does Lasso 9 support? Lasso 9 supports the same data sources as Lasso 8.5 incuding FileMaker, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server. Lasso 9 supports ODBC and JDBC data sources. |
