Eclipse is an integrated development environment (IDE) that runs on Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, and other platforms. Eclipse provides built-in support for Java development. However, since Eclipse is an open development platform, third party developers can create components for Eclipse which extend its functionality to support additional languages.
Lasso Studio ties into the built-in development tools of Eclipse, extending them to support LassoScript development. See the Features page for a listing of features that Lasso Studio adds to the Eclipse IDE.
Eclipse can be downloaded from the Eclipse web site for free. Follow the link below and download the Eclipse SDK for your platform of choice. The site will present the appropriate download for your platform or you can select "Other Downloads" to get Eclipse for a different platform. The Eclipse SDK is the most complete download of Eclipse and is required for Lasso Studio.

Eclipse is developed and maintained by the Eclipse Foundation. IBM developed the Eclipse Platform and then released it as an open source project. The Eclipse Foundation was organized into a not-for-profit corporation that oversees the evolution of the Eclipse tools platform. Eclipse is supported by a long list of industry heavyweights and by a vibrant open source developer community.
