Lasso Professional 8.5 Server has been replaced by Lasso 9 Server.  LassoSoft will continue to support Lasso Professional 8.5 Server, but strongly encourages Lasso users to consider the newer version, Lasso 9 Server.

Lasso embraces open standards making it easy to work with a wide range of data sources, Web servers, and platforms. Web applications you develop on one platform can be deployed on another seamlessly. Lasso Professional 8.5 Server is supported under the following configurations:

Windows Requirements

Lasso integrates with IIS or Apache 2 and provides unparalleled ease of use allowing you to quickly create dynamic Web sites. Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 Server are recommended for deployment.  Windows XP Professional makes an excellent development or office server.

Hardware Requirements (Lasso 8.0, 8.1, 8.5)
  • 300 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU
  • 512 MB of RAM. More recommended
Software Requirements (Lasso 8.0, 8.1, 8.5)
  • Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, or Windows 2003 Server
  • IIS 5 or higher (included with Windows) or Apache 2
  • Java Virtual Machine compatible with Sun's JRE 1.4 (Java 2)
  • Standard installation of ImageMagick 6.2.0 or greater (free download)
Macintosh OS X

Lasso feels right at home on the easy-to-use Mac platform. Lasso integrates with the built-in Apache Web server in Mac OS X or Mac OS X Server. Lasso 8.5 features a Universal Binary which will run on either PowerPC or Intel based Macintoshes.

  • Intel Core Solo or Core Duo Macintosh computer
  • 512 MB of RAM. More recommended
Software Requirements (Lasso 8.5 - Intel)
  • Standard installation of Mac OS X Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard (10.4 thru 10.6) or Mac OS X Server (10.4 thru 10.6)
  • HFS+ formatted hard drive with BSD subsystem option
  • Apache Web Server (included with Mac OS X)
  • Apple's X11 for Mac OS X (optional install)

  • G5, G4, or G3 Power Macintosh computer
  • 512 MB of RAM. More recommended

  • Standard installation of Mac OS X Panther, Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard (10.3.9 thru 10.6) or Mac OS X Server (10.3.9 thru 10.6)

  • Apple's X11 for Mac OS X (optional install)

Certification Note: Lasso is certified to work with Mac OS X version 10.3 (10.3.9 with Lasso 8.5) or higher with HFS+ (Mac OS Extended format), and with default Mac OS X installations of Apache Web server. Modified versions of Apache and customized httpd.conf configuration files may work with Lasso, but cannot be officially supported.

Red Hat Linux

Lasso on Linux is a very reliable, scalable, and cost effective platform. Lasso integrates seamlessly with open source technologies including Apache, MySQL, and in Lasso 8.5, PostgreSQL, and more.

Hardware Requirements (Lasso 8.0, 8.1, 8.5)
  • 300 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU
  • 512 MB of RAM. More recommended

  • Standard installation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 with network support
  • Red Hat Linux installation of Apache Web Server 2
  • IBM's Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.4.1 for Red Hat Linux
