Open the PDF in Acrobat and use File > Document Properties (or Ctrl D) and then Initial View. Set to open in fit page view.
The view will vary slightly in browsers depending on how many toolbars etc the user has displayed. For copy to be read in a browser I always design the page in landscape and set fit page. You will find newsletter PDF publishers are increasingly using landscape.
Be aware that some users have their browsers set to automatically download a PDF and not display in a browser.
You cannot test the font embedding on your own system because Acrobat or the Reader will look for a missing font on your system. The most likely cause of non-embedding, if you have the correct settings, is that one or more fonts is not licensed for embedding. I have found that to be true of some Adobe fonts. Presumably special permission is needed or embedding is completely excluded.
