Celebrating 10 Years of Putting FileMaker Data on the Web!
Ten years ago Lasso began its journey to become a professional Web programming language tool to tie FileMaker to the Web. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Lasso product launch, and 10-years of successfully publishing FileMaker databases online.
FileMaker is famous for its ease-of-use in building time-saving databases for desktop use, and Lasso was born from the need of having that same ease when putting databases online. Ten-years later, Lasso still makes tying FileMaker databases to Web sites as easy as ever, but now offers a large toolset of advanced programming features to build complete Web-based applications.
Here are just a few features our FileMaker customers love:
- With Lasso, you can extend your FileMaker applications to the web while utilizing the same FileMaker database to store your data.
- Lasso's built in security model is more secure and robust than open-source or FileMaker's built-in web security.
- FileMaker's built-in web publishing language (CDML) is based on an older version of Lasso, so users already familiar with putting their data online have a shorter learning curve.
- Lasso can connect to multiple data sources at the same time, allowing you to move data to and from FileMaker to other databases such as MySQL.
- Lasso allows you to create database independent code which works with any Lasso compatible data source. After learning Lasso you can perform searches, adds, and updates in MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or many other data sources as easily as you can in your FileMaker data source
- LassoSoft takes pride in extending Lasso's capabilities with each new release so Lasso will have the tools in place to take advantage of emerging technologies when you need them. Lasso has support for XML-RPC and SOAP, AJAX for dynamic Web sites, XML and XSLT, SSL for secure connections, and many more.
- Lasso's documentation includes an online tag reference which details all of the more than 1,000 tags (functions) in LassoScript. Lasso also includes detailed PDF documentation which is task oriented and provides many examples of not just what the tags do, but how to use them in your own site.
- Lasso has staying power. For ten years Lasso has been the industry leader in publishing FileMaker databases on the Web. While FileMaker has experimented with CDML, IWP, XML/XSLT, ODBC/JDBC, PHP, and other strategies, Lasso has been updated to work with every new version of FileMaker seamlessly.
